Old Toys

This morning we welcomed some special visitors into our class who brought with them some very special toys.

Parents and Grandparents came to show us toys which they used to play with when they were a child.

We had a fantastic range including a Spirograph, Cindy dolls, teddies, cars, a jumping spider, a toy record player, books and much more!

Thank you to those who could come in to see us, we had a lovely morning and we learned so much.

Multi-Skills PE

This afternoon we visited Diss High School to join other schools for multi-skills PE games.

The event was organised by the young Sports leaders who are studying their BTech qualifications at Diss.

We were challenged to use all kinds of skills including throwing, balancing, weaving, jumping, crawling and much more.

Bending, stretching, twisting and squashing!

The children enjoyed investigating how objects can or in some cases cannot be changed by bending, twisting, squashing and stretching!

Design Technology

This week we started our new Design and Technology project to design a moving model vehicle.

Our topic this term is 'It's a toys story', so we started by looking at toy cars, lorries, buses, and much more.

We recorded what the toys were made of and how they moved. To discover how to make a toy move, we made our own moving vehicle using construction kits.

Black History Day

Today we remembered Black History week. We worked with every class in mixed year groups. It was lovely to see everyone helping each other during our morning activities.

Our focus was on Nelson Mandela and we looked at some of his very inspiring quotes.

We learnt that, in the past, black people had to live a life of slavery and were not treated equally.

In Hedgehog and Rabbit class we learned about Freedom Quilts that were used to send secret messages about planning a journey to freedom.

We made a whole school quilt using various materials including felt sewing, printing and colouring.

We got together at the end of the day and shared our exciting work and sang all together 'Free Nelson Mandela'.

Toasting marshmallows

As one of our 100 memorable events, today we had a fire and toasted marshmallows.

 It was fantastic!

We sang songs around our campfire too.
